LensWideOpen combines blind competition, LensWideOpen Curator Reviews, and verified creative provenance — so photographers build real reputations on real critique. A ranked marketplace is the next phase, built for the reputations earned here.
A photography platform built for the artist, not the engagement loop. Concrete differences you’ll notice in your first session:
Sign up and start one right away. No waiting for a category to open or for entrants to trickle in — you'll see votes and feedback within minutes, not hours or days.
No all-day grind to fill a meter. Vote on a small, fixed number of pairs and your entry counts toward the standings. We optimize for thoughtful votes, not volume.
Immediate feedback on every image you upload, plus per-entry coaching after a contest closes — so you leave each contest with something to work on, not just a rank.
Every vote is visible and every Curator pick comes with a written rationale. Our scoring uses an established pairwise ranking method — you can read the math, not guess at the algorithm.
The platform is built for the photographs, not for who can game the system best. No streak meters, no rich-get-richer dynamics.
LensWideOpen Curators can't be lobbied, bribed, or pressured the way human judges can. Pairwise voting, blind ballots, and a fixed Curator panel mean a contest can't be won by who you know.
Every Curator vote and review comes with written rationale, so you can learn from their judgments instead of just receiving them. The how of the score matters as much as the score.
Free during Beta. Paid Curator Reviews already run on credits in your wallet — the rest of the platform stays free until we exit Beta, and we'll tell you long before that changes.
Engagement, Curator critique, fairness, provenance, and revenue — each pillar operates independently, but together they form a continuous loop of trust and value.
Themed, time-limited competitions with ranked leaderboards and multiple formats.
Per-Curator critique on a single image, a small set, or a full body of work.
Monthly seasons across Mini / Panel / Full tiers — three brackets, credit awards.
Blind pairwise voting with zero metadata — quality wins, not clout.
A classification layer that makes every image's creation method visible.
Phase 2 — artist storefronts, print-on-demand, and contest-driven artwork promotion.
Time-limited, ranked, and blindly judged. Every entry contributes to your reputation — and every contest you win amplifies your visibility in the marketplace.
A Curator Review delivers per-Curator critique on your work — a single image (Mini Read), a small set (Panel Review), or a full body of work (Full Project). Same panel as the contests, written rationale per Curator, and a calibrated LensWideOpen Score so you know exactly where you stand.
Championships turn your strongest Curator Reviews into competition entries. Three monthly seasons run in parallel — Mini Read, Panel Review, and Full Project — each split into Beginner / Intermediate / Advanced brackets driven by the panel's read of your work. Iterate up to three times per entry. Place top 3 in your bracket and earn credit awards; out-score every bracket in your tier and you take the Tier Champion bonus.
No usernames. No follower counts. No EXIF or metadata. Just two images, side by side — and an honest choice from a real community.
The Creative Transparency System identifies how each image was made and makes the answer visible to everyone — creator, voter, and buyer alike.
When the LensWideOpen marketplace launches, every listing will carry its CTS category and the Curator scores it earned — so buyers know exactly what they're getting. Artist storefronts, print-on-demand fulfillment, and contest-driven visibility.
Platform behavior is clearly explained — no opaque ranking, no hidden weights.
Voting remains unbiased and auditable, with balancing to prevent skew.
All creative methods are supported — as long as they are honestly disclosed.
Accurate provenance information accompanies every image on the platform.
Systems evolve through structured community feedback and user agreement data.
Structured phases let us validate community engagement before expanding commercial capability.
